“I’m originally from L.A. I grew up hearing a wide variety of music such as Mariachi, Mexican romantic vocal trios, Western Swing and cowboy songs, pop radio hits, jazz standards, and whatever else my ears could take in. I wanted to play the guitar from the time I was very young and got some help from an uncle that played country style. About the time I was ten years old I started taking lessons at a local music store. My teacher taught me folk songs and surf music. During my high school years I became interested in Blues and Jazz, Solo Guitar and also in Bluegrass and Old Time Music. I found other musicians and soon we were out playing gigs. I got my first real taste of performing in a swing jazz style band in my late teens to early twenties. After that I moved to the Northwest and played in bands that traveled the area. Country, Rock, Bluegrass, Swing, Folk, Singer Songwriter, Jazz… And it was all great fun! In my thirties my life turned to other concerns but Guitar and music remained my passion. I returned to California in the 90’s and now reside in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley and have found the good fortune to work full time as a guitar instructor and as a performing musician.”
